Baby Steps With The LEVEL UP Program

When I first heard the phrase “How do you eat an elephant?”, I was confused and conflicted. Why would I want to eat an elephant? And really, how does one go about eating an elephant?

As you know, the response to this saying is “One bite at a time.” This is a metaphor referring to taking a large mission/project/goal/etc. and breaking it down into tiny little bites. Baby steps, if you will.

And that’s basically what it takes for a weight loss/fitness journey to be successful. I speak from experience when I say you must be okay with taking baby steps in order to get results that last. Instant gratification is an instinctive desire, but it is not at all reality when it comes to making a lifestyle change.

Commitment, consistency, and compassion for the journey are some of the main reasons we came up with the Level Up program. These three components will give you the long term results you’re seeking. Our most successful clients have remained committed to their health, have stayed relatively consistent with their eating and fitness routines, and have given themselves compassion and grace for the times they’ve slipped up on the journey.

So as an Impulse client, why should you be utilizing the free Level Up program?

The Impulse trainers aren’t just chirping in your ear about goals simply to hear themselves talk. They want you to feel the incredible rush of accomplishment when completing a goal. They know you want to be healthy and fit, which requires commitment no matter how you look at it. On the good days, you have to commit to a little extra. On the bad days, you have to commit to never giving up. Every day, you have to stay committed to your goals.

Understand that the trainers aren’t meant to hold your hand. Instead, they are there as a guide to help empower you to becoming your own hero in your health journey! In order to do this, they’ve created the Level Up program to allow you to reach your health and fitness goals through baby steps using the tactics of our successful clients. That “one bite at a time” thing becomes a lot easier to do when someone who has “eaten an elephant” before has handed you the right kind of fork and knife, along with an outline of the most efficient way to start. Providing a clear path and knowing that you’re doing things in the proper order lessens the intimidation factor and makes those goals seem so much more doable.

Chris graduated from Walsh University with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications and a Master's Degree in Education. She joined Impulse as a client in 2013 as an overweight, out-of-shape and depressed person looking to get healthy. With consistent workouts and cleaner eating, better health poured into her life along with an 80 pound weight loss. She was asked to join the Impulse team in 2014 as a Guest Relations Coordinator. Her most important role at Impulse is making people feel at home by being able to relate to the struggles of getting your health under control. Chris's compassion and empathy for each client helps them see their potential through her own story. She has experienced all the different service options offered at Impulse, and she is able to give honest insight as to what programs would be in the best interest of each client. Her role at Impulse is continually evolving and now involves everything from finances, to marketing, to most importantly...taking care of our clients!
