I learned an important lesson this past weekend. You can probably guess from the title of this article…it’s all about ATTITUDE. It’s everything. Your outlook on life, your job, and the everyday things you have to get done will determine how the rest of your life will go. You are the only one who can decide whether or not you’re going to have a good day. Are you a glass half full or glass half empty kinda person? Perspective is everything.
Maybe you aren’t enjoying certain aspects of your life like you used to. Could it be because you need to change your outlook? Maybe you’re burdened down by your everyday tasks and the to-do list that seems never-ending. You have a choice whether you’re going to let those things overwhelm you or whether you’re going to be joyful in doing them. I’ve learned that it is important to focus on ONE thing at a time. I’m the kind of person who will have 7 tabs open at the same time, hopping back and forth from thing to thing, somehow thinking I’m getting more done that way. Make a list and PRIORITIZE. It’s okay to not finish everything in one day! Don’t rush through life because it all just has to get done NOW. Choose to enjoy each moment, no matter how mundane the task. Don’t be thinking ahead to the next thing you have to do; focus on the here and now.
When you wake up in the morning, start your day with a grateful heart. Say a prayer thanking God for all of your blessings. Your attitude will determine how you live your life. It will determine the influence you have on people, how you handle tough situations, and whether you’re perceived as a positive or negative person. Todd Durkin (motivational coach, speaker, and trainer) says that “your body, mind, and soul are contagious to each other- make sure they’re all healthy.” They each affect the others. So stay in shape. Eat right. Get your mind right. Fuel your soul with the things that inspire you. Get rid of distractions and things that are wasting your time and energy. Give yourself an attitude adjustment if you need one! Then go and live your best life, taking positive energy and joy with you everywhere you go.
